Blistered Hands!

You would think that after being in our house for 9 months, we'd be done with the painting!!! I just finished the dining room, and I only have two small rooms left to do! Yea. Emily, Jaydon and Joel are at Grandma and Grandpa Jibson's house for the week, so now's my chance to get these projects done...regardless of the blisters on my hands. I'll be SOOO happy when it's finished. (then I'll be ready to paint a new color on some "accent wall" - oh dear.)
No, this is not me...nice stock photo I found on the internet. Sweet shoes.

Family Reunion

We went camping at Pismo Beach for a few days and had a BLAST! This is Emily and me and a few cousins in the sand rail, getting ready for our ride. We went off some sweet jumps ( I was picturing Napolian Dynamite's grandma). We played at the beach, had campfires and smores galore, and got to catch up with cousins we haven't seen for awhile. To top it all off, we got to celebrate my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary! 60 years! WOW. We had such a great time, we can't wait for next time.

Ode to the Pioneers - (Updated)

Tonight was our Stake Pioneer Day celebration. We are accustomed to dressing up in the stake we just moved from...I guess they're not quite to that point here yet. oh well, we had fun being "pioneers" for an evening. Boy am I glad we get to wear shorts these days. We did some fun activities and the kids had a great time! I'm glad to have a celebreation to remember those who sacrificed so much for us, so we can have the Gosple here today. Here's a link to a few more pics of the day.

Got Potter?

Ok,
So I felt a little weird as I was one of the few who was NOT dressed up amongst the 2000+ people attending the midnight release of the final Harry Potter book. The event, however, was quite eventful. Kids and parents were dressed to Hogwarts' ends with costumes of all kinds. It was quite amazing to see the loud excitement of fans for the 10 sec. countdown to midnight. I think it beat any countdown I experienced on new year's eve. It was a RAGER! We all got arm bands to organize the lines by first come first serve. The first girl in line ran away cheering with her book in hand followed by a grown man in his mid-twenties hunched over with book in one hand, cell phone in the other exclaiming, "I think I'm gonna cry.... I tink I'm gonna cry" to whomever was on the other line. Well, I didn't reserve a book so I was waaaay down the line and would have to wait an hour and a half. Fortunately, I slipped a friend $20 to just buy two when it was her turn in line.

I got home finally at 3AM and had to read the first chapter. I CAN'T BELIEVE WHO DIED!! ha, just teasing... sort of. So, I'm wasting time and have to get back to neglecting my kids.

Fun in the Sun (and Urgent Care)?

My great friend Rachel Sebra came to visit for the day with her 4 kids, Ben, Isabelle, Luke and Isaac. We've been friends since Emily and Ben were just babies. It's so fun to see how our families have grown! The kids had a blast together at our pool and splash park. We had lunch all together, then played for hours. Everyone had a great time, until poor Jaydon slipped and cut his head on the table. Then it was off to Urgent Care. All is well, and great memories were made!

Order of the Pheonix

Being Harry Potter fans and all, Ryan and I went to see "The Order of the Pheonix" last night at an awesome theater in L.A. This is by far the best of the Harry Potter movies, in my opinion, and I thought it was very well done. The PG-13 rating was appropriate...there were definitely some scary parts! I do reccomend reading the book before seeing the movie though, you'll understand certain parts a little better.

Menifee Lakes Road Show

Last weekend we performed our ward road show, "Bedrock" style, with most of the youth in our ward. I think the kids had a really great time, and despite the few hang ups we had, I think they'd all do it again next year! Good work everybody!

Say Cheese!

I gave Ezra a couple of slices of cheese, you know, about what a 1 year old can handle...I walked away for 1 minute and this is what I saw. he wasn't satisfied with just a couple of slices...he wanted the whole block! Grabbed it right off the table. Gnaw away boy!

Old Video

I found this video and thought I'd bring it back for old kicks. Here's the background though:

It has become a customary practice that whenever more than 2 of Kelly's family members get together they have to have a "ladies outing" which usually ends up in a lot of returns going back to Target. No matter. But on this particualr occasion, I was left with all the kids by myself. So I quickly filmed and edited this short feature for grandma and grandpa while the ladies were gone to try and keep us all occupied, mostly me. -Ryan

Southwell Farm

Well let's get bloggin! We got back from the Southwell homestead, a word not used much these days, and had a great time. Getting there was a challenge. We drove to Las Vegas to catch a flight to Denver and then drove north into Wyoming into neverland at midnight trying not to hit any wildlife. Long day. But when we got up in the morning we went outside and took in the beautiful view of the surroundings.

To some, Wyoming is blah, but to me the possibilities are endless. So many fun things for the kids to do. They took to the animals really well, got in some horseback riding and running from the bulls (Nate, Ryan and Jared). If you can blow off the masses of flies and heat, then you're in good shape. The lake was dried up, but in its place grew a large pasture of foxtail brush that looked really cool. The kids would run out and drop in it and they would disappear. The only problem there was that it was also where the Scottish hairy bull liked to roam. So we had to keep some distance. For me, one of the best parts was being able to walk around with my dad and document his memories of the farm. Like the natural well (south of the house =) that sill produces fresh water, the old lake, outhouse, the bogs, Huntley High School, class of 15, and of course the house he built for his mom so she didn't have to live in a hot shack without running water or a toilet. I tell you, farmers are tough people. My dad definately grew up in a lifestyle that doesnt exist today. I got it all on HD, available upon request in 2008. Check out the full photo gallery here.
