When the days get over 100 degrees it's time to be creative for some indoor play...it's just too hot to go out! My children have come up with some pretty great activities to do inside while we hold out for cooler weather. Yeah, we go to the pool, we run through sprinklers, we go to the A/C ed library....but even those things get old after a while. Most of my childrens' ideas I endorse, even join in...while others, well, let's just say, just because there's a picture of it doesn't mean I APPROVE of it! Take the stair way rope swing for instance...very creative, very fun, and tons of excitement...but NOT approved by mom (regardless of the "one more time guys so I can get a quick picture..."). However, other activiites, such as dancing to music that's way too loud, a puppet theater, and face painting or finger painting are highly endorsed around here. My kids love to be creative, and I think it's so fun! We have had all kinds of "forts" and tents, dress-up pretend play and art activities. Their new favorite board game right now is "Guess Who". Play Dough and coloring are always fun as well. It's been a great, fun summer and even though it's hot out doesn't mean we have to be hot and bored in the house...so let's take some tips from the little ones and use our imaginations to whip up some indoor fun!

I still say Emily gets an A+ for creativity on the stair rope swing! I mean...that's something you'd see on Home Alone or some crazy kids show! Where is the supervision?!!?!?!
....and come on Kelly--admit that after you took the picture, you took a turn on the swing too...
I know that's my kid, Jaydon on there but something about it is freaking me out!
well, the rope would only hold this body for one swing...didn't want to pull down the whole staircase!
what a fun household. sounds like you have your own 6 ring circus. I'm sure mine would've been the same way, if my kids actually had a summer. October--look out!

Kelly, every one of those pictures reminded me of my childhood. It made me think back to how fun summer was... even just hanging out at home. You are such a fun mom! This blog reminded me that it is o.k. to let kids be creative and get messy and have fun.

Oh my gosh..if my boys saw that..or wait if I saw my boys do that..well...it wouldn't surprise me one bit! Im actually surprised they haven't thought of that! I give an High Five to Emily for that one.
I want to SWING on the stairs like Emily and the boys. I think that is a wonderful imaginative idea. I think they are very, very creative and I LOVE that they are. Just look at the smile on Emmy's face as she swings. I'm glad that you got a picture of it before it all came down. Way to go E,,J and J!! I love you G'ma "J"
